Trade relations with Indonesia: VDMA calls for progress in negotiations

A Free Trade Agreement with Indonesia, which is the largest ASEAN economy, would reduce tariffs, remove technical barriers to trade and cut red tape. This would be useful for the machinery and plant engineering sector.

VDMA is calling for progress in the next negotiation round between the EU and Indonesia on a Free Trade Agreement. This is expected to take place after the summer. The German mechanical engineering industry exported around 593 million euros to Indonesia in 2020. However, there is more potential with this country, which is the largest economy in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). A Free Trade Agreement could further increase this potential. read more
