German mechanical and plant engineering stands for turning megatrends into economic opportunities, especially in climate protection. These include the circular economy, the availability of renewable energies, the development of a hydrogen economy and the transformation in mobility. The technical solutions to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions are already available today.
Sustainability, energy efficiency, CO2 neutrality and climate protection are steadily and rapidly gaining in social, political and corporate importance. Europe has set itself the goal of being climate-neutral by 2050. The framework conditions and roadmap for this are detailed in the European Green Deal.
The VDMA is perceived as a voice promoting CO2 pricing. Thilo Brodtmann, Managing Director of the VDMA, explains what this means and how the VDMA positions itself in comparison to other energy pricing models.
Machines improve our lives – on a large and small scale. Whether for our health, food or the many means of transportation that we use; whether we are looking at the ground deep below the sea or from high above – we need machines and people who utilize their skills to make the world a better place to live. That is the aim of mechanical and plant engineering. Humans – Machines – Progress.
