VDMA members discuss chances of Industrie 4.0 on 3rd VDMA China Seminar
VDMA was one of the leading associations establishing the concept of Industrie 4.0 as early as 2012. Because our member companies have signaled a clear need for information about this topic, VDMA China has decided to address Industrie 4.0 in its 3rd VDMA China Seminar. During this seminar, the VDMA member companies Unity and Bosch Rexroth introduced case studies of Smart Factory applications processed via IoT (Internet of Things), and CPS (Cyber-Physical Systems).
Mr. René Bernard, Managing Director of VDMA China, presented milestones of the Industrie 4.0 concept development and stressed the fact that Germany and also China currently experience a “hype phase” on Industrie 4.0. After introducing the plattform Industrie 4.0 and the VDMA Forum Industrie 4.0, the audience discussed their questions openly. Finally, the VDMA film “Industrie 4.0 – Next steps” was viewed together.
Afterwards, Mr. Hu Xiaolong, Managing Director of Unity Consulting China, provided information on Smart Services and Smart Logistics. By providing case studies, Mr. Hu has shown that Industrie 4.0 can produce new business models in the service industry, e.g. in the logistics industry, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) will further develop through Industrie 4.0.
Mr. Christoph Rieger, Sales and Product Area Manager for Assembly Technology of Bosch Rexroth, then introduced Industrie 4.0 from company Bosch perspective. VDMA member company Bosch is one of the more active companies in the Steering Committee of the Plattform Industrie 4.0. Mr. Rieger explained that real time communication via ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) can create added value networks so that even lot size 1 production is efficiently possible.
René Bernard concluded that “This Seminar has been a great success, because participants came from Hongkong and Hangzhou to Beijing only to attend our VDMA Beijing Seminar. I clearly see that Industrie 4.0 is currently one of the hottest topics in Mechanical Engineering”.
